The Online Registration Solutions Team

In early 1998, SignMeUp co-founders Ralph Harrington and Todd Bellino, friends since kindergarten, mailed registration forms to enter a master’s swim meet. When they arrived, to their dismay they found that they weren’t registered, as apparently the event organizer had lost their registration forms and their checks. The line to deck enter was very chaotic as the organizer had no ability to process credit cards and few people were carrying cash. To make matters worse, Ralph and Todd had to swim their events in the first heats against much slower swimmers since their seed times were on the lost registration forms.

The SignMeUp seed was thus planted. Ralph and Todd asked developer James Peltier, another kindergarten buddy, if he could build a platform to collect registration information and process payment through the internet. After much blood, sweat and tears, in December 1998 SignMeUp processed its first registration for Jim Brimm’s Cross Country Challenge.

Shortly thereafter, Ralph, Todd and Jim quit their day jobs and hired Mark Hauser, Dan Bloedorn, Diane Goldring Nesbitt, Stan Smith, and Matthew Allen. With this dedicated team, SignMeUp survived when the internet bubble burst in mid-2000. Rather than expand rapidly, which caused so many internet startups to fail, SignMeUp remained laser focused on back office registration and transaction processing. SignMeUp’s number one goal was, and always will be, to help its customers succeed.

Fast forward to today. Jim Brimm is still a customer and the original eight employees are still with the company. Our customer base has grown exponentially as event organizers have realized the benefits of automated transaction processing. We have added new team members and are poised for significant growth. Be sure to check back often to keep up with our progress.
